Getting non-consensual or stolen content removed

If an intimate image or video of you is online without your consent, or your content has been stolen and re-uploaded, you have real options — and this is not your fault. This page walks through them fastest-first. You do not have to do all of them, and you can get free, confidential help at any step.

If the person in the image was under 18 — even if that person is you — this is child sexual abuse material, and the fastest route is the NCMEC CyberTipline and Report Remove and Internet Watch Foundation, plus the police. Do not download or forward the image. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.

1. Stop it spreading — hash-matching (do this first)

The single most effective step, and the least known: free tools create a digital fingerprint (a “hash”) of your image on your own device — you never upload the image itself — and use it to detect and block matching uploads across participating platforms, including many adult sites and social networks. It can work even before you find every copy.

StopNCII.org

Global · Adults 18+

Creates a digital fingerprint of your image on your own device — you never upload the image itself — and blocks matching uploads across partner platforms including Pornhub, OnlyFans, XVideos, Reddit, Meta, TikTok and Snap. Run by the UK's Revenge Porn Helpline.

Take It Down (NCMEC)

Global · For images taken when under 18

Like StopNCII, but for explicit images of someone who was under 18 when the image was taken (it works even if you are now an adult). Device-side hashing — the image never leaves your device. Partners include Pornhub, OnlyFans, Meta, TikTok and Snap.

If the image is fake or AI-generated (deepfake)

A fabricated nude, a face-swap, or a “nudify”-app image is still image-based sexual abuse, and it is removable — you do not have to prove it’s fake. The hash tools above accept synthetic images, search engines remove fabricated explicit content, and new laws specifically cover AI-generated intimate images. These routes are built for exactly this:

StopNCII — synthetic & deepfake images

Global · Adults 18+

StopNCII explicitly covers deepfakes and synthetic nude/semi-nude images of you — you hash them the same way, and the image never leaves your device.

Google — remove fake or AI explicit images

Global · Fabricated content

Google removes deepfakes and fake pornography that falsely depict you nude or in a sexual situation from Search results. You do not have to prove the image is fake.

My Image My Choice

Global · Deepfake abuse

A campaign and resource hub focused specifically on deepfake sexual abuse, with a curated directory of support.

US law: TAKE IT DOWN Act (2025)

US · Your legal leverage

Federal law (2025) that covers AI deepfakes: covered platforms must remove reported non-consensual intimate images, and identical copies, within 48 hours of a valid request. Enforced by the FTC.

UK law: creating a deepfake intimate image

UK · Your legal leverage

Since 6 February 2026 it is an offence in the UK to intentionally create — or request the creation of — a fake ('purported') intimate image of an adult without consent. Sharing has been an offence since 2024.

2. Report it to the site

Every major site has a route to report non-consensual or unauthorized content — usually a “content removal”, “report”, or “DMCA” page. Reporting through the site’s own form is often the fastest removal. Below are the routes we could verify; each site’s own page has the current one.

Tip: report from the platform and use a hash tool above — the hash tool keeps it from being re-uploaded after the platform takes down the copy you found.

3. Copyright takedown (DMCA)

If you took the photo or recorded the video (including a selfie), you own its copyright — and you can demand any site, its host, and search engines remove it under the DMCA (US law that essentially every major platform honours worldwide). If someone else filmed it, copyright may not be yours, but the hash tools, the site’s non-consensual-content policy, and the police routes below still apply.

A valid DMCA notice contains, in your own words:

Send it to three places for the strongest effect: the site’s DMCA agent (column above, or the US Copyright Office agent directory), the site’s hosting provider (shown as the hosting network on each site page), and Google/Bing to remove it from search results.

Copy or download the template, fill in the [bracketed] parts, and send it:

DMCA COPYRIGHT TAKEDOWN NOTICE

To: [the site's designated DMCA agent / copyright email]
Date: [today's date]

To whom it may concern,

I am submitting this notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(17 U.S.C. § 512(c)). Please remove the material identified below.

1. THE COPYRIGHTED WORK
[Describe the work you own — for example: "An intimate photograph/video
that I personally created of myself, to which I hold the copyright."]

2. THE INFRINGING MATERIAL AND ITS LOCATION
The material is being used without my authorization at the following URL(s):
[Paste the exact URL(s) of every page where the content appears.]

3. MY CONTACT INFORMATION
Name: [your full legal name — or the name of an agent/attorney acting for you]
   Email: [your email address]
   Address: [your mailing address]
   Phone: [your phone number]

4. GOOD-FAITH STATEMENT
I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material described above is
not authorized by me (the copyright owner), my agent, or the law.

5. STATEMENT UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY
I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notice is
accurate and that I am the owner of the copyright, or am authorized to act on
the copyright owner's behalf, for the exclusive right that is being infringed.

6. SIGNATURE
[Type your full legal name here as your electronic signature.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes for you (delete before sending):
 • Send this to THREE places for the strongest effect: the site's DMCA agent,
the site's hosting provider, and Google/Bing (to remove it from search).
 • If you did not create the image yourself, copyright/DMCA may not apply — but
you can still use StopNCII/Take It Down, the site's non-consensual-content
policy, and the police. See adultwebcensus.com/remove-my-content.
 • You may prefer to have a lawyer or a victim-support helpline file this so your
home address is not exposed to the infringer.

4. Report to the police

Sharing intimate images without consent is a crime in most of the US, the UK, Australia, the EU and many other places. Before anything is taken down, preserve evidence: save the URLs, take dated screenshots of the content and the uploader’s profile, and note when you found it. Don’t delete your own accounts or messages that establish context. Then report to your local police and the relevant national portal below.

FBI IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center)

US · US victims

Report sextortion and cyber-enabled exploitation to the FBI. If the victim is a child, use the CyberTipline instead; for immediate danger call 911.

UK Police

UK · UK victims

Report the crime to the police. Sharing intimate images without consent is an offence under the Online Safety Act 2023 and the Sexual Offences Act.

Phone: 101 non-emergency · 999 emergency
